Captain Sir Geoffrey de Havilland was an aviation pioneer and aircraft engineer, born in High Wycombe in 1882. His de Havilland Mosquito has been considered the most versatile warplane ever built. Not only was the plane designed in High Wycombe, but around 5,000 aircraft were assembled with parts made there.

Then in 1942, Jean Shrimpton was born in High Wycombe. She started modelling in 1960, and featured on the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaaar and Vanity Fair. She is considered to be one of the world's first supermodels, and helped launch the miniskirt.
