It's 3:33am and I just drove home from a very nice night at Matt's. I went over reasonably early and once his parents went out, we hit Stevie Williams with Chris. Then I convinced the Rogers Bros. to play Jurassic Park, which could only lead to watching Jurassic Park the film simultaneously. Me and Matt were the raptors and, due to misreading the rules, had eaten enough of Chris's humans within 7 minutes! So we just watched the film, during which Ben and Math both turned up.
After toying with the idea of watching three Star Wars movies back-to-back or Alice in Wonderland for a while, we decided to stay active and play another game. Matt's choice, Perudo. I've never heard of it but after a quick read of the rules and it's ancient origin, I was intrigued. The first round began slowly but as I got the hang of it, sugary tea in hand, I was falling in love.
Simply, each player starts with a cup and five dice of the same colour, and through a process of bidding, bluffing and luck - the number of dice in play reduces and the winner is the last one left with any. It's obviously a little more specific than that but still simple enough to pick up after a round or two. Additionally, it's possible to play anywhere! I'm thinking High Rides.
This summer, man.
